Chamshir Dam and Power Plant

• Control of seasonal floods to prevent the damages of river flooding and as a result efficient use of water in other fields like agriculture
• Controlling the river regimen and the risk of river flooding in Khuzestan province, especially in Hendijan area
• Supply water for drinking, industry and for irrigation the agricultural land with an area of 110 thousand acre
• Storage and controlling the 1.8 billion cubic meter water of Zohreh river
• Generating 620 gigawatt hour of hydroelectric power per year (520 gigawatt hour from Chamshir powerhouse and 99 gigawatt hour from diversion dam)
• Water salinity control in salty soil areas and salty springs and as a result protecting downstream from salination
• Providing amenities and facilities in Gachsaran region, development of fish farming and dependent industries
